Fitting Tips for Safety Toe Footwear
When purchasing safety footwear, it is important to remember that these shoes will probably be worn more than any other footwear that you own. They may possibly be worn in harsh environments, on concrete floors, for 8 hours or more every day. It is therefore very important to take some time when choosing your footwear.
The following tips will be useful in determining a proper fit when purchasing your safety footwear:
- Talk to our salesperson - If you have any specific needs, medical conditions, concerns, etc., let our salesperson know. He can then help to select the proper footwear for your situation.
- Make sure that you wear appropriate socks for the environment in which you will be working.
- If you haven't done so lately, have your feet measured. You should fit your shoes to the larger foot.
- If you wear orthotics, arch supports, or insoles, be sure to try your shoes on with them in the shoes.
- Be sure that you have at least ¼", but no more than ½" of room in the front of your shoes. This can be checked by sliding your feet forward in the untied shoes and checking the space in the heel.
- All shoes fit differently - Base your decision on the way the shoes fit, not by the size marked inside the shoes.
- With the exception of normal "new shoe stiffness", your shoes should be comfortable immediately. Don't rely on them to stretch, especially in the toe and heel areas.
- Try both shoes on and tie them before deciding whether or not they fit.
- If you are trying shoes on near the beginning of your shift, allow some extra room in the shoes to accommodate normal swelling over the course of your shift.
- Take your shoes home - Please test your new shoes in a clean environment before wearing them to work. We will gladly exchange them if they are uncomfortable, but only if they are in new condition.
- Take care of your shoes - Chances are, you will be wearing these shoes more often that any other shoes you have. Treat them accordingly.
Remember that YOU are the only person who can say whether your shoes fit.
Taking these steps will help to ensure a great fitting pair of safety footwear. Thank you for your interest in IPP footwear. We pledge to make every effort to help you in making a comfortable and smart purchase!
